Favourite Things

Faint perfume on yellowing paper
black coffee and crushed ice
red gummy bears left for later
cotton candy clouds in blue skies.
The smell of dog paws, first rains,
fresh sheets and stale perfume
Daddy’s closet that takes the pain away
of yesterday, the unknown and memories of you.
Rain, the idea of love, drying flowers,
umbrellas, socks and cigarettes at midnight
The Beatles and Dylan playing for hours,
solitary waits in airports for flights.
Promises, books and pacts on windy evenings
bitter whiskey in December nights
yearning, glitter and reckless feelings
that forever make you feel alive.
Getting lost, being found, city lights,
the ocean, peaches and white wine.
Hotel rooms, showers and old secrets
Declarations of love in the moonlight.
